This team-oriented approach fosters continuous improvement, from multi-purpose rigs capable of seamless conversions between standard and short-mast configurations to specialized models optimized for torque, transport weight and low-headroom applications.

Looking ahead, HPM is dedicated to pushing technological boundaries, enhanced efficiency and sustainable practices that reduce environmental impact while maximizing productivity. By anticipating evolving industry needs, such as those in demanding foundation, rathole and infrastructure projects, HPM ensures its rigs remain agile, reliable partners for clients worldwide.

Redefining extraction: The Crowd Winch System advantage

Beyond standard drilling, the ability to handle heavy casing and complex pile removal has become a critical differentiator in the field. HPM’s latest engineering breakthroughs, the HPM200 CWS and HPM90 CWS, are specifically designed to meet these challenges. Both rigs feature the innovative Crowd Winch System (CWS), a technology that sets a new benchmark for force, precision and adaptability.

The HPM90 CWS: Optimized for urban site constraints

For projects where site access is tight, but performance cannot be compromised, the HPM90 CWS is the ideal solution. This agile rig is designed to excel in civil construction and urban redevelopment, utilizing its specialized cable crowd system to handle long casings with ease. The HPM90’s greatest strength lies in its modular versatility. The mast can be reconfigured quickly for low-clearance environments, enabling the rig to operate with a minimum working height of just five metres (m) (16 ft. five inches).

This allows contractors to perform pile removal or foundation reinforcement inside existing buildings or beneath low-hanging urban infrastructure. Mounted on a nimble CAT 313 base and powered by a CAT C3.6 engine, the HPM90 CWS is built for rapid deployment. Its intuitive parallelogram system facilitates a quick transition from transport to work mode. Significantly, the rig can be moved with the Kelly bar still attached, drastically cutting down setup times on sites with multiple drilling locations.

The HPM200 CWS: Dominating tough terrain with dual-winch power

The HPM200 CWS is a powerhouse engineered for the most rigourous ground conditions, capable of driving casing sections up to eight m in length. The machine’s defining feature is its revolutionary dual CWS. Unlike traditional setups, this design uses two dedicated winches mounted coaxially to manage pull and push forces independently.

Beyond standard drilling, the ability to handle heavy casing and complex pile removal has become a critical differentiator in the field. HPM’s latest engineering breakthroughs, the HPM200 CWS and HPM90 CWS, are specifically designed to meet these challenges.

This configuration provides a significantly extended rotary stroke, allowing for greater reach and operational flexibility. By keeping the wire ropes under constant tension, the system eliminates slack, ensuring maximum energy transfer and efficiency, a critical factor when fighting ground friction during the installation or extraction of large-diameter casings. Operators benefit from independent winch control, which allows for surgical precision during delicate extraction phases or high-torque drilling.

Furthermore, when the rig is set up for continuous flight auger operations, the intelligent rope management system ensures smooth winding even at extreme depths, maintaining high performance throughout the pile installation process. Built on a rugged CAT 330 base with a 205 kilowats CAT C7.1 engine, the HPM200 CWS remains a versatile asset. Its modular mast allows for a rapid shift to low-headroom mode, making it indispensable for infrastructure upgrades where clearance is restricted by bridges or power lines.

Next-generation piling: The HPM 25B and HPM 340 SP 16

HPM’s drive for innovation does not stop at the CWS series – the company continues to push boundaries with the development of the HPM 25B. The HPM 25B is a masterclass in compact engineering. Built on a CAT 315 base, it features a zero-tail swing design, rubber tracks and a dozer blade, making it the ultimate surgical tool for ultra-confined urban environments. What truly sets it apart is its extreme versatility. It achieves an ultra-low clearance of less than 12 ft., yet its modular mast can be easily converted to reach drilling depths of up to 17 m (55 ft.). This allows contractors to transition from restricted indoor work to standard outdoor piling without switching machines.

HPM is also currently sharpening its focus on advanced specialized techniques, particularly sheet piling, to provide more precise and efficient underground solutions. To support this strategic shift, HPM is launching a dedicated sheet pile machine, engineered to deliver unparalleled stability and automated accuracy. This new addition to their fleet embodies their commitment to innovation, merging robust CAT-based reliability with cutting-edge verticality systems. By integrating mission-specific technology into every build, HPM ensures that their partners stay ahead of the curve.

Experience HPM innovation at the National Heavy Equipment Show

From April 23-34, HPM will bring Italian engineering excellence to the 15th edition of the National Heavy Equipment Show in Mississauga, Ont., where the latest machinery, technologies and construction solutions take centre stage. The event offers a concentrated look at the innovations shaping Canada’s infrastructure sector. HPM will be ready to exchange insights and explore future projects with contractors. It’s an ideal setting to connect with professionals, discuss emerging trends and evaluate solutions designed to tackle even the most demanding projects.
