The Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) has renamed two technical committees to better reflect the breadth of its work across the geotechnical industry.

The Deep Foundations for Landslides and Slope Stabilization Committee is now the Landslides and Slope Stabilization Committee, while the Subsurface Characterization for Deep Foundations Committee has become the Subsurface Characterization Committee.

“For decades, the word ‘deep’ in our name was understood primarily as a physical measurement. Today, it represents something much broader – the depth of expertise, innovation and technical excellence of our members,” said DFI Executive Director Theresa Engler.

Engler says the updated names reflect the broader range of technical challenges addressed by DFI and its members.
