National Pile Croppers (NPC) exhibited the enormous and highly productive Quadzilla and a selection of other hydraulic Quad pile croppers at ConExpo-Con/Agg in Las Vegas. The equipment was shown as part of the total solutions offering of NPC‘s partners in North America, Pinnacle Drilling Products and IDE Drilling Equipment.
IDE displayed the NPC Quad series at the show which has proved to be highly popular with American and Canadian customers. IDE’s NPC Quad Large 750 Cropper for one is designed to be used for the reduction of augured piles up to 30 inches (750 millimetres) in diameter, whilst at the Pinnacle Drilling Products booth, a true giant of pile cropping was exhibited – Quadzilla. These both use four powerful fully synchronized rams with specially designed blades, with the cropper being developed to hold the cut pile section safely for removal to a designated safe area.
The mighty Quadzilla, shown at the Pinnacle Drilling Products booth is a true pile cropping behemoth, designed and developed to deal with piles of between 36 and 48 inches (900 and 1,200 millimetres) in size. Weighing in at a mighty 8,100 pounds (3,775 kilograms), it is best used on an excavator of at least 31 tonnes in weight. Although big, Quadzilla is still easy to use, with operation being simplicity itself. As with its smaller siblings, the cropper is simply lowered to the ideal height, with the jaws then being closed until pile sections “pop” free. The broken pile section then can be easily removed for recycling to a dumper or a specified area.
